Abstract An automated gas analyser has been designed, constructed and installed for online
monitoring of H 2, CH 4, CO and CO 2 in the reduction plant at Mobarakeh Steel Company,
Iran. A small and low-resolution mass spectrometer is used in this instrument. The analyser
accepts the sample directly from the ambient pressure. Mass spectra are converted to
