New optical chemical sensors (Optodes) are introduced for determination of some cations. One of them has
prepared by immobilization of a suitable ligand for Hg(II) on triacetyl cellulose. The other optodes were prepared
from PVC, suitable ionophores and chromoionophores for determination of Hg(II), Pb(II), Tl(III) and Sm(III).
The parameters involved in the preparation and determination of those cations were optimized. The sensors were
used for determination of those cations in water and standard samples.
