Our Research Projects

Nanomaterials are acquiring a big impact on development of electrochemical biosensors. Nanotechnology brings new possibilities for biosensors construction and for developing novel electrochemical bioassays. Moreover, the high sensitivity of electrochemical transducers, coupled to their compatibility with modern micro-fabrication technologies, independence of sample turbidity or optical pathway, low cost (disposability), portability, and minimal power requirements, make them excellent candidates as a transducer system. In addition, electrochemistry offers innovative routes for interfacing the nucleic acid recognition system with the signal-generating element and for amplifying electrical signals.

Our research interest comprises the development of biosensors and sensors with electroanalytical methodology appropriate for routine analysis of different compounds such as vitamins, pharmacological and toxicological compounds, carcinogen compounds, DNA degradation, herbicide compounds, and direct and real time measurement of drug release from therapeutic nanoparticles. The main goal of our research involves the sensitivity and selectivity aspect of biosensors to overcome interference that exist in such matrices as biological or environmental samples. His research program is the development of miniaturized analytical sensors.
