Abstract: A sensitive reversible optical chemical sensor for detecting lead ions is described.
The sensor is based on the interaction of Pb (II) with diphenylcarbazone in plasticized PVC
membrane incorporating a plasticizer (tributylphosphate). The membranes were cast onto
glass substrates and used for the determination of lead ions in aqueous solutions by batch
and flow-through methods. When the sensing film came in contact with lead (II) ions at pH
